The LLMGenerator - LLM.txt Checker browser extension is designed with privacy as a core principle:

What the Extension Does

• Checks if websites have llms.txt or llms-full.txt files at standard locations (/ and /docs/)
• Displays a badge indicator showing the status of these files on the current website
• Provides quick access to view these files when they exist

Data Collection

We do not collect any personal data. The extension:

• Does NOT collect, store, or transmit any personal information
• Does NOT track your browsing history
• Does NOT send any data to our servers
• Does NOT use cookies or any tracking technologies
• Does NOT have access to your passwords, form data, or any private information

How the Extension Works

When you visit a website, the extension makes HTTP HEAD requests directly to that website to check for the existence of llms.txt files. These requests:

• Go directly from your browser to the website you're visiting
• Do not pass through any LLMGenerator servers
• Are identical to requests your browser makes for any normal file

Local Caching

The extension temporarily caches check results in your browser's local memory (not storage) for up to 10 minutes. This cache:

• Improves performance by reducing repeated requests
• Is stored only in your browser's RAM
• Is automatically cleared when you close your browser
• Is never transmitted anywhere

Permissions Explained

The extension requests the following permissions:

• activeTab: Required to read the URL of the current tab to check for llms.txt files
• host_permissions (<all_urls>): Required to make HEAD requests to any website you visit to check for llms.txt files

These permissions are used solely for the functionality described above and nothing else.

Analytics Data

We use analytics tools to understand how visitors use our website and application, and to improve our services:

• Google Analytics (via Google Tag Manager): Collects usage data such as pages visited, session duration, and traffic sources. Data is processed by Google under their Privacy Policy.
• PostHog: Product analytics to understand feature usage and user journeys across our website (llmgenerator.com) and app (app.llmgenerator.com). A shared cookie under .llmgenerator.com allows us to track the full user journey from marketing site to application.
